Simple skin care routine for flawless skin!
With all the skin care fads around – Korean skin care routine, Cleopatra skin care routine, Japanese skin care routine- one is bound to get confused. In fact, we all in some way do have a skin care routine. We wash, scrub and moisturize the skin. But rarely do we build a routine basis our skin type.
Over the counter, fancy products somehow manage convincing one that this has to be a part of your cabinet. Experimenting with new trends is fun. But if your basic skin care is not right, you are risking your skin and not always do we have the undo option. It takes just 21 days to form a new habit. So you need to push yourself for just 21 days!
What a basic skin care regimen consists of:
Cleansing, toning, SPF, moisturizing – all steps concentrate on keeping skin clean and hydrated.
How to select products?
On the basis of your skin type. Using oil blotting paper one can understand the skin type.
Which products to use?
Fancy over the counter skin care kits sounds tempting but chemical laden. You can consult a dermatologist for noncomedogenic products or use natural home remedies. In fact, many of us might have noticed how products that promise acne free skin, in fact, lead to more breakouts. It is more about understanding the pH balance of your skin and maintaining it. Also, go for fragrance-free and alcohol-free products.
Basic Skincare routine:
1. Cleanse:
I use a gentle cleanser to cleanse the skin. Before this, I would experiment with various face wash options available in the market. And yes leaving them aside and sticking to a nonfoaming cleanser was tough. but after noticing the benefits on my own skin, not turning back.
My personal favorite: Tone: Cetaphil gentle cleansing lotion.
2. Exfoliate:
Gently scrub away the dead skin cells using mild exfoliators. Rub it in circular motions over the facial skin. This is to be done once or twice a week.
3. Tone:
Toners help in removing any excess dirt or makeup which cleanser could not. Also, it tightens the pores giving your skin more fresh and youthful appearance. There are many toners available in the market. Stick to ones without alcohol. Rose water also works as a good toner.
4. Moisturize :
One can either opt for serums here or a heavy moisturizer orYou can apply a serum and top it with your favorite moisturizer.
5. SPF:
No matter how much you spend on those gold silver platinum facials, if you don’t wear an SPF, premature aging is bound to happen. Damage done by harmful ultraviolet rays is irreparable.
6. Eye care:
The skin around eyes is drier compared to overall facial skin. Hence the need to use eye creams specifically for the gentle delicate skin around eyes. You can use almond oil here. Applying castor oil along lash line will make them naturally long and thick. While choosing eye cream check for ingredients like vitamin c and retinol.
7. Lips :
The matte lipsticks being in trend this year, it becomes a must to keep your lips moisturized and hydrated all the time. Matte lipsticks highlight the lip creases and dryness. Check out these amazing lip care techniques!
And face does include your neck! You have to cleanse, moisturize the neck as well, and there you are! Ready to flaunt your beauty.
I use coconut oil on my skin before bed and it surprisingly helps to balance out my oil levels on my face. Do you have any recommendations for toners? What do they do scientifically? I have never used one.
- March 15, 2017You are so correct on all points. But here in Las Vegas, a day without SPF is a day that will guarantee to damage your skin. Blessings!
- March 15, 2017The SPF is really an important thing that I usually forget of. What helped me clean my face and skin in general was, freaquent bed sheet changing and drinking minimum of 2L of water daily.

I have dry skin so I definitely need to have a discipline skincare routine. Exfoliation is huge for me and definitely a hydrating moisturizer and serum. Great routine!
- March 14, 2017Skin care is so important, especially during the colder months. My skin always feels so tight during winter, and I end up scared that it will dry out.
- March 13, 2017Good skincare routine is vital. I think the most important ingredient is SPF in any daily moisture skin care.
- March 13, 2017I hate when when the skin on my face gets dry. There’s a cream from Israel that works wonders on the hands!
- March 12, 2017Great tips! I follow pretty much the same skin care routine. I also feel its important to keep our skin free of chemicals at least for a few hours in the day.

- March 10, 2017Pampering my face is my favourite part of each day! 🙂
- March 10, 2017After turning 40 I’ve been laser focused on my skin and loved your post. Especially the tip about spf .. i’m awful about remembering! For me the biggest difference always comes from eating a whole food diet .. if I’m sad and have eaten too many cookies .. I swear it shows up in my face first!
- March 9, 2017You know, some people neglect their lips, and its so important to keep them hydrated all year round.
- March 9, 2017Reading this makes me realise that I’m not really doing a great job with my skin routine! Thanks for the tips!
- March 9, 2017Great tips! I absolutely agree on the SPF! Lots of people forget about it but sun can be so detrimental to your skin. I always wear at least 15!
- March 9, 2017Thanks for simplifying this unnecessarily complexified (if thats a word) basic regime which i am sure everyone will appreciate. I just didnt know about toning and didnt take any special care for skin under eyes. Your blog helps a ton.
- March 9, 2017Nice and informative post. I stick to all those that you mentioned in the regime….PLUS essence, anti-wrinkle cream, serum, whitener…and some others. You would think I’d have glowing skin with all the skin products I use, but I blame my coffee addiction for my less than perfect skin.
- March 8, 2017I only just recently learnt the benefits of toning and eye cream is a must!
- March 8, 2017Early on, my mother taught me how important having a skin care routine was. It’s really important that you find products that suit your skin type otherwise, it won’t work at all.
- March 7, 2017I have oily and sensitive skin so sometimes it can be hard to find a routine that suits my skin. What I have found it less is more, too many products irritate my skin x
- March 6, 2017For an atopic skinned girl like me finding the good solution is always so difficult! I’ve found the perfect face cream but still have issued with foundation, when and if I use it. So thank you so much for your help in this post!
- March 6, 2017this is really good for preserving our skin.. great review you made here. thanks for sharing
- March 6, 2017I loved this post! I want to share my routine as well, so you really gave me some inspiration. And now I am finally sure I have combination skin, even though my cheeks’ skin can peal off my T zone is still oily.
- March 6, 2017BS, xx
The SPF is the one that I always forget! I only really put on sunblock if I’m at the beach. Great reminder! Other than that, I basically follow a similar regimen.
