Surprising uses of items inside a Handbag
Call it an obsession or addiction – women love and hoard handbags. From boxy office bags to weekend party bags, from defined sophisticated bags to funky slouchy bags and of course the fringed boho bags- we have them all inside our Handbag and that “ALL” is never enough! But what amuses most of us is the stuff a woman can tote along in a roomy bag of hers. So instead of having a “what to/ what not to bag” or a “what is in my bag” post, this post is to enlist some of the unusual things & usual things for unusual purpose found in a handbag. Enjoy
1. Band-aid:
Apart from medical dressing use, this one can help prevent a shoe bite. Just stick it to insides of the shoe where you notice unevenness that hurts the feet and done!
2. Flashlight:
Bulky for some, but smaller versions are also available. And a must have in a travel bag. Serves well in searching for strewn mints in a messy bag too 😉
3. Tea bags:
Dry tea bags for sudden tea cravings – common! Dry tea bags for smelly shoes – not so common! Place a teabag inside the shoes especially post your workout. Tea bags being absorbent work well in getting rid of that odor.
4. Nail filer:
Well, of course, to file your nails and filer being a sturdy sharp grainy tool can be put to use multiple times. Getting rid of some sticky packaging or just in case for safety!
5. Dettol tissue wipes:
- Convenient to carry and use for cleaning face or makeup on the go. Apart from that, you can sanitize your mobile. And yes! the sight of unhygienic public loos. Minimize UTI risk.

6. Cardamom powder:
Yes! ELAICHI it is. If you are not a mint gum/ ice breakers mint person. You can stock up on this. No more bad breath.
7. Granola bars:
These small portable energy bars are perfect snacks to carry in your handbags. The single bar can help ease the hunger pangs.
8. Shoe polish kit:
Ok, this is too bulky! And I don’t think many would prefer it in a handbag but some people actually do carry one always!
9. Boroline tube:
All purpose cream. Like literally all: – moisturizer, antiseptic for minor cuts or bruise and rashes, hand cream, cracked healing cream for feet, works wonders on dry chapped lips. And it is inexpensive: 28 Rs for 20g.
10. Foldable shopping bags:
Hah! Because shopping is not always planned.
I agree that you should always have foldable shopping bags with you. Now that more and more countries are adopting the eco tax, this is the way to avoid paying more on extra bags.
